Welcome to the FORLAND Project
The Forestry, Land Use, and Value Chains Development in Tanzania (FORLAND) Project aims to promote sustainable forestry practices, improve livelihoods, and strengthen Tanzania’s economic growth. This initiative, supported by the Government of Finland and the Government of Tanzania, focuses on enhancing community-based forest management (CBFM), plantation forestry, and value chain development.
Tanzania is home to 48.1 million hectares of forests and woodlands, contributing significantly to the country’s economy. However, deforestation, inefficient land use, and limited market access have affected the sector’s potential.
The FORLAND Project (2024-2028) seeks to address these challenges by supporting smallholder tree growers, communities, and MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in sustainable forestry practices.
